Just this last weekend Michelle and I moved into a new place. It has been a difficult process, not only because of the usual stress of buying a home, but really trusting the Lord that it is according to his plan. This morning I am resolved that it is his plan, and that he dwells here.
The first night of staying here, my mom, brother, Michelle and I gathered around to have a time in the word and in prayer and ultimately to consecrate the house to the Lord. There was a devotional that was so clearly a reminder that the house should not be regarded as anything to be cherished, and then there was a peace in the air where we all just sat there, content in the silence.
That night as I lay in bed, doubt began to creep in. Was this really a part of God’s plan? Is God really in it? Is his Spirit here?
This morning God so unbelievably showed up and spoke to me words of assurance and affirmation. I have been reading through 2 Chronicles, and today picked up where I left off at where Solomon prays and consecrates the the house of the Lord that has just been built before the people.
It says 2 Chron 7:12 “Then the Lord appeared to Solomon..and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chose this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.” God goes on to say “Now my eyes will be open and my ear attentive to the prayer that is made in this place. For now I have chosen and consecrated this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there for all time.”
Wow…
I am so overwhelmed by this word, that God would show up in our personal lives and speak. I write this now, so that I may not forget how great is our God. 5/23/11
I am so excited to so how this house will be used to serve others and to serve God.
